Course Completion: 4 weeks (2 sessions per week) - starting May 14, 2024 and completing June 7, 2024
Course Days/Times: Wednesday and Friday at 2:00pm EST

Course Description:
The Industrial Sewing for Production Training provides individuals with the foundations of professional industrial sewing for manufacturing soft goods and apparel. This training program is for individuals interested in pursuing a career in sewn products manufacturing. This course is not for sewing hobbyists. This course focuses on three core industrial sewing machines, which are the workhorses in most soft goods and apparel manufacturers. The students will learn each machine and how to operate each machine and material efficiently and effectively. This course teaches the students on material handling with different textiles, production sewing styles such as chaining, sewing efficiency and consistency, technical terms and documents, manufacturing practices and safety, troubleshoot machine and sewing issues, and standard for high quality sewing and finishing. Students will receive an industrial sewing training manual. Individuals will earn a certificate once all courses are completed.
Course List:
SN101 (3hrs) Single Needle machine training
Prerequisite: Some Sewing Knowledge
SN201 (2hrs) Single Needle machine production sewing practice
Prerequisite: SN101
OL101 (2hrs) Overlock machine training
Prerequisites: SN101 and SN201
CS101 (2hrs) Coverstitch machine training
Prerequisites: SN101, SN201, and OL101
PS301 (3hrs) Production Sewing all three machines working as a team with other students to put a garment together
Prerequisites: all 101 and 201 courses in program
TS401 (3hrs) Troubleshooting, Stitch/Machine Issues and what to look for. Poor quality vs Good quality.
Prerequisites: all 101, 201 and 301 courses in program
FL500 (3hrs) Review and putting it all together of all the learnings. Additional sew time on the machines.
Prerequisites: all 101, 201, 301 and 401 courses in program
FL501 (2hrs) Timed final sew test for test of speed and quality of production sewing. Overall, assessment of skill-level
Prerequisites: all courses completed in program 101 - 500
